Earl Holds Fruitful Partnership Discussions with Upper East Regional Minister

OFFICIALS OF EARL AND UPPER EAST REGIONAL MINISTER

Earl International Group Gold (GH) Limited on Wednesday July 24, 2024 held fruitful partnership discussions with Upper East Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih at his office.

The stakeholder meeting was called at the behest of the Minister to receive an official overview of the operations of Earl and its contributions to the economic and social growth of the upper east region.

Key among the issues discussed were Corporate Social Responsibility, fruitful partnerships, and the challenges posed by the activities of illegal miners within the concession of Earl.

Dr. Hafiz underscored the crucial role Earl plays in the stimulation of economic growth in the region through employment and positive impact on businesses.

He noted that deposits of gold in commercial qualities in the upper east region, coupled with the huge investments made by large-scale mining companies such as Earl, has positioned the region for a significant economic boom, hence the need for fair-minded engagements to safeguard the benefits that will accrue from the companies’ operations while offering the needed protection to their investments.

The Minister stated that his office is concerned about the persistent challenge Earl is facing with the activities of illegal miners and assured of his resolve to take steps to mitigate the situation.

Earl Group’s Public Relations Officer, Ebenezer Bognaab, stressed that since the commencement of its large-scale mining operations in September 2021, expansion works are still ongoing to scale up the mine and to stimulate more economic growth through employment, royalties, tax obligations, and Corporate Social Responsibilities.

Mr. Bognaab expressed the company’s deep worries about the activities of illegal miners, which continue to pose losses and safety concerns.

“In fulfillment of a desire to invest in health in our host communities, plans are far advanced to build an ultra-modern hospital for our host communities. We have cleared the land and have started transporting sand in readiness for actual construction to begin,” Mr. Bognaab added.

Earl’s General Manager in charge of operations, Liu Jiangtao, expressed gratitude to the government and its agencies for their cooperation and oversight responsibilities over mining operations of the company.

He passionately appealed for the state’s support to tackle the issue of galamsey and intrusions by unauthorized persons into the underground mine area of Earl.
