A private security guard sustained injuries on Friday, February 27th, after being attacked by illegal miners within the underground mining area of Earl International Group Ghana Gold Ltd. This incident is the latest in a series of assaults targeting the company’s underground staff and security personnel by illegal miners who gain access through unauthorized tunnels.
The security guard was injured during an attempt by Earl Group’s security team to remove illegal miners who had infiltrated the underground mine. According to an assessment, the miners accessed the facility via a 20-meter straight tunnel illegally connected to a mining stope.
Management of Earl International Group Ghana Gold Ltd. has expressed serious concerns regarding the continuous intrusion into its underground mining operations. These illegal entries not only disrupt daily activities but also pose a significant threat to overall safety and security. A particular worry highlighted by management is the use of explosives by illegal miners within the company’s underground areas, which presents a grave safety hazard.
The company emphasized that the actions of these illegal miners are a clear violation of the law. Furthermore, management stated that these activities risk undermining vital jobs, investments, and development initiatives that are crucial for the broader Gbane community.
